B. F. Jones Memorial Library

The B. F. Jones Memorial Library is a restrained-Italian-Renaissance-style limestone structure, built in 1928.

Its classic architecture features travertine flooring, ornamental plaster ceilings, wrought iron screens by Oscar Bruno Bach, and a leaded glass window with ten stained glass medallions depicting Mother Goose rhymes by Henry Hunt.

The Library is listed in the Pennsylvania Inventory of Historic Places and the National Register of Historic Places.

Beaver Area Heritage Museum

The award winning Beaver Area Heritage Museum features rotating exhibits on the people, events and objects that have shaped the Beaver Area. It is housed in a renovated 105 year old railroad freight station and 200 year old log house.

Open March - December, Saturday 10 A.M.-4 P.M. and Sunday 1-4 P.M. Free admission. Donations accepted. Private tours upon request.

Beaver County Historical Research & Landmarks Foundation - The William Vicary Mansion

The Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation was incorporated as a nonprofit organization on December 14, 1971. It was later named the official Historical Society of Beaver County. The purpose of the Foundation is the collection, preservation, and interpretation of Beaver County's historical sites, records and artifacts for the educational benefit of the public.

The Foundation, which is supervised by a board of trustees is involved in a number of ongoing activities:

  • Operation of the Beaver County History Center at the Vicary Mansion
  • Publication of Milestones - a quarterly magazine about Beaver County history
  • Publication and reprinting of historical literature including: The 1976 Bicentennial Atlas, The 20th Century History of Beaver County, Rivers of Destiny - The Beaver County Bicentennial Book and A Guide to Historical Landmarks in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.
  • Selection of up to four historic sites each year and dedication of these locations with historical markers.
  • Distribution of Heritage markers for residences which meet historic criteria

Beaver County Industrial Museum

The history of the glass and steel industry in Beaver County is the focus of this new museum in Darlington, located at 801 Plumb Street, one block from Route 168.

Beaver County Model Railroad and Historical Society

The primary focus of the Society is two-fold. First, it is our mission to collect and preserve railroad memorabilia.

Second, we aim to promote the art of model railroading by building the Union Atlantic HO scale model Railroad, which features Pennsylvania and Beaver County’s rich railroading history.

Beaver Falls Historical Society & Museum

Founded in 1945, their mission statement is to collect, house and preserve the artifacts and history of Beaver Falls and its surrounding communities. They are housed in the Carnegie Free Library and are the oldest historical society in Beaver County. They possess over 125 years of history.

There are permanent displays consisting of a Victorian Room, Mayer China, Civil War memorabilia, a sports area, artifacts from the Fire Department and many local industries. They have decades of information and photographs available for research.

Beaver-Lawrence Railway Historical Society

We are a 501(c)(3) organization located in Lawrence County.

We are dedicated to the preservation of railway history, artifacts and historical items from the Western Pennsylvania area.

Our principal asset is the P&LE Railroad Station in West Pittsburg. It is currently being restored with the intentions of creating an interpretive museum and train-watching location!

Colonial Dames XVII Century Beaver Town Chapter

Daughters of the American Revolution Fort McIntosh Chapter

Trace your lineage and honor your ancestors by joining the Daughters of the American Revolution (prove descent from a soldier or patriot of the Revolution).

We preserve history and historic sites, support veterans and education, and honor our forefathers.

The National Society was founded in 1890 and the Fort McIntosh Chapter in 1904.



Enon Valley Community Historical Society

The future home of the Enon Valley Community Historical Society was the lone survivor of a 1920 fire that destroyed an entire block.

It is currently being renovated. When completed, it will house and display the rich history of the Enon Valley community.

General Anthony Wayne Chapter - Sons of the American Revolution

The Sons of the American Revolution is a national organization of male descendants of those Patriots who served the cause of winning our Freedom from England.

We are a nonprofit, non-secret, nonpolitical group dedicated to patriotic, historical and educational objectives. Monthly meetings held at the Park Inn by Radisson in Beaver Falls.

Greersburg Academy - Little Beaver Historical Society

Built in 1802, Greersburg is the oldest public building in Beaver County, the oldest advanced educational institution North of the Ohio River. William McGuffey and John Brown were educated here. It is also the oldest standing building used as a train depot.

We feature the history of the Underground Railroad in Beaver County, as well as examples of all principle types of glass, pottery and china manufactured in Beaver County. We have over 3,000 Indian artifacts, Fort McIntosh artifacts, the Abner Lacock Room and railroad memorabilia.

Historic Harmony - Harmony Museum

Harmony, a National Historic Landmark, founded in 1804 as the first home of the communal Harmony Society, which was resettled by the Mennonites in 1815.

George Washington visited an Indian Village here during the 1753 mission that sparked the French & Indian War; as the first shot of the war was fired at him at a nearby site. The Harmony Museum interprets a remarkably rich history.

Hours are Tuesday-Sunday from 1-4 P.M. Closed on Holidays.

Little Beaver Museum - Little Beaver Historical Society

Originally designed and constructed by Ira Mansfield, a state legislator and entrepreneur, as a two-story brick schoolhouse in 1883, it closed in 1957.

This museum houses two floors of both local and Beaver County historical artifacts, including primitive tools, a piano on which John Phillip Sousa composed many marches, a church room, a school room, several Victorian era rooms, toys and doll houses, Prison and Trench art, and many more items in this extensive collection.

McCarl Industrial & Agricultural Museum of Beaver County - Little Beaver Historical Society

We offer displays that demonstrate the history and development of manufacturing in the County. Besides static displays, a number of machines are operating.

A forgeand foundry demonstrates some of the basics of manufacturing.

McKinley Schoolhouse #3

Built in 1872, the Historical McKinley Schoolhouse #3 is the last remaining one-room school house in Chippewa Township. Grades one to eight attended here 1873-1929.

Visitors will be able to see what a one-room school house would have looked like. Open by appointment. Donations appreciated.

Merrick Art Gallery

Housed in the Merrick is a wonderful collection of 19th century oils including representations from the Hudson River School.

Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad, Library & Museum

This DCC (Digital Command Control) 400 foot model operating railroad, depicts the late 50’s-60’s era from Ambridge/Pittsburgh local to Wheeling, West Virginia with full scenery, logging area, steel mill, coal and farming operations.

The newest addition is our N-Scale railroad. New additions are always on-going. Meetings held every Monday at 7:30 P.M.

Old Economy Village

This National Historic Landmark, built 1824-1830 is furnished with collections of the Harmony Society, German immigrants known for industrial prosperity in textiles, railroad investments and wine making.

Richmond Little Red School House - Brighton Township Historical Society 

Step back in time at the Richmond Little Red School House. This restored one-room school was built in 1844 and is a fine example of the rural one-room school era.

Saint Nicholas Chapel - Greek Catholic Union of the USA

A replica of the wooden Greek Catholic Churches in the Carpathian Mountain region of Central Europe. This award-winning designed chapel, incorporates the architectural theme of the best of three old world churches, painstakingly researched from a collection of over 120 churches.

The chapel houses a museum on the lower level and is available for tours weekdays from 9 A.M.-3 P.M.  Larger groups up to sixty are welcome with prior arrangement. 

Admission is free, bus parking available. Divine Liturgy celebrated Sunday at 10:30 A.M.

South Side Historical Village

The village consists of a restored 1874 Mercer one-room school house, the Porter blacksmith shop, with demonstrations in metal arts, the Johnson 1800’s log cabin showing the rural home life, a large brick bread oven, a pedestrian covered bridge, the Glenn classic bank barn built in 1858 displays antique agriculture equipment and the Nelson doctor’s office built in the 1800’s.

Future projects are a pottery shop, sawmill and general store. This site is geo-cache friendly. The operating village is open on the second Saturday in April- October, 11 A.M.-3 P.M. Tours by appointment. Free admission. Donations accepted.

The Vicary Mansion

The historic Vicary Mansion, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was constructed in 1826 by Philadelphia Sea Captain William Vicary. The mansion is home to the Beaver County Historical Research and Landmarks Foundation, recognized as the official historical society of Beaver County.

Visitors may experience tours of the mansion by costumed docents, educational programs and re-enactments. Our five annual events include a working a History Weekend, Vicary Craft Day, Applebutter Fest, an Evening of Tales and Hauntings and Christmas at the Mansion.

The building is open to the public Monday-Friday, 10 A.M.-2 P.M., or by appointment. Closed on major holidays. Free Admission/donations accepted.
